Over 30 thousand guests visited Ajman’s Heritage Village

Event brought UAE history to life whilst honouring Martyrs who devoted their lives to the UAE

Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department, announced his delight at the success of the UAE Heritage Village following a huge attendance by Emiratis, residents, and tourists during the five-day event. Over 30 thousand people visited the Heritage Village, inaugurated on Wednesday 29 November as part of the 46th National Day celebrations.

HH Sheikh Abdulaziz said, “The success of this event is testament not only to the hard work of all those who made it happen but also to the great interest locals and travelers to the region have in UAE history. Ajman embraces its heritage whilst utilizing modernity to bring a truly unique cultural experience to all. We celebrate the 46th National Day of our beloved UAE in such a way as to remember and honour our past, whilst embracing the future. A future that is bright and full of optimism and innovation thanks to our wise leadership. It was a joy to see so many families, residents and visitors having a fun day out while upholding the values and traditions of our forefathers.”

The Heritage Village in Marsa Ajman remained open until December 3rd with events and shows that celebrated the UAE’s history and culture with sections dedicated to honouring UAE Martyrs and a special section displaying the coast, desert and urban lifestyle. There was also a market place displaying traditional handicrafts, costumes and local products, and traditional food was on offer. Children enjoyed themselves in the play area and there were performances by heritage groups, and competitions with valuable prizes to be won including money, toys and watches.  

HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General said, “This event and its activities sought to reflect the past for visitors while connecting them to the future. The fact that so many turned out to enjoy the event shows what great respect and interest the people have in our past, as well as our current traditions and culture. People took genuine delight in being introduced to different aspects of the UAE’s heritage, as well as learning more about the older way of life, while highlighting the sacrifices of UAE Martyrs and their defense of their homeland.”

HE Al Geziry thanked authorities and civil departments for their cooperation that contributed to the organisation of the events in celebration of the national occasion.
