His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, honoured the 11 participating people of determination in the “Zayed Humanitarian Day” initiative and presented them with certificates and gifts of appreciation. In addition, representatives from the government and private sectors who collaborated with the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) in this humanitarian and social initiative were honoured, as they provided training and employment opportunities to people of determination, in government and tourism sectors across Ajman.
At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by people of determination and senior officials from a number of supporting departments and organisations at the Ajman’s Rulers court, His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, stressed that the UAE has become a leading country in implementing and supporting initiatives for people of determination: “These initiatives are being embraced by government and private sector organisations with the aim of providing the best possible services and training programmes for this segment of society. In addition to the government’s efforts to launch more initiatives to serve citizens, it will help them achieve local, regional and international accomplishments and promote excellence in various walks of life”.
His Highness said that the role of People of Determination is no less important than that of able bodied people: “The “Zayed Humanitarian Day” initiative, launched by ATDD, is a recognition of their role and positive contribution to society, whereas a number of organisations were willing to host and train people. It is surely a testament to their outstanding ability to give and serve society”, he added.
He clarified that the achievements in this regard are mainly attributed to the UAE’s wise leadership and its great efforts to overcome all challenges faced by people of determination.
He said that calling people with disabilities ‘people of determination’, will help support and fully integrate this segment into society, making the UAE a model to follow in promoting their inclusion in all areas: “Disability is not a barrier to social inclusion. People of determination constitute an important part of the social fabric and they are able to give equally as others”.
He called upon government and private sectors to integrate this segment into the workforce and provide training and employment to enable them to serve the nation, while taking challenges they might face into consideration.
He underlined that the care for people of determination is the responsibility of all, highlighting the importantance to support the launch of such initiatives.
Last month, the department launched the “Zayed Humanitarian Day” initiative under the patronage of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Tourism Development Department, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development. It was launched in observance of Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on the 19th day of Ramadan every year, in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah rest his soul in peace), who passed away on this day.
It is in line with the ATDD’s CSR plans and programmes, through which the department aims to fulfil its responsibility towards the community, by contributing to the integration of people of determination into society.
HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of ATDD, said: “The late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah rest his soul in peace) is the world’s pioneer of humanitarian work. His guidance of caring for various segments of society, particularly people of determination, serves as a source of inspiration for the present and future generations. We decided to launch this initiative, which is consistent with the UAE’s wise leadership and keen efforts to serve the interests of people, and provide all means of decent life and continuous development”.
Al Geziry added: “Providing jobs for people of determination helps integrate them in to society and give them the opportunity to contribute to the development of their own country, thus boosting their optimism for the future. The great response will encourage us, and the supporting organisations, to continue this initiative on an annual basis.”
The training programme was attended by 11 candidates who were trained in business management, accounting, administrative and technical work at the ATDD, the Ajman Executive Council, and some of Ajmans’ leading hotels.
The BAHI Ajman Palace, the Ramada Hotel & Suites, the Fairmont Ajman, the Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort, and the Kempinski Hotel Ajman, selected a number of high performing trainees for permanent employment at the end of the programme and assisted in enhancing the future job prospects of others.
The meeting was attended by HE Abdullah Amin Al Sharfa, Adviser at Ajman Ruler’s Court, HE Hamad Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of Ajman Ruler’s Court, HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of ATDD and HE Ahmed Ibrahim Al Ghamlasi, Head of Ajman Crown Prince’s Office, as well as further directors and senior officials.
Representatives from all Ajman hotels, who hosted the trainees for a month, joined the meeting with their interns, the people of determination, who arrived alongside their families.
