Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) inaugurated the UAE Heritage Village on Wednesday and it will remain open in Marsa Ajman until Monday, December 3rd.
HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of ATDD and Chairman of the Higher Committee for National Day Celebrations in Ajman, said that the inauguration of the Heritage Village is a testament to the way the Emirate honours its past whilst embracing the future. He said: “The Heritage Village in Ajman Marina includes many diverse activities with an area entitled “Let’s Commemorate the UAE Martyrs” for those who sacrificed their lives for the elevation of the nation. It also includes a local market, with a variety of shops displaying ancient handicrafts, costumes and local products, and features shows by traditional bands.” HE Al Geziry also praised the cooperation of all authorities and departments that contributed to the organization of the events in celebration of the national occasion.
The events include activities and shows that celebrate the UAE’s heritage and culture and there are many sections, including an area honoring UAE Martyrs, another featuring Ajman Museum and a special section displaying the coast, desert and urban lifestyle. There is also a local medicinal herbs corner, and visitors can take part in a diving training program by qualified and experienced professionals.
The Heritage Village also offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy the shopping atmosphere through the “Local Market”, which includes a variety of different shops displaying traditional handicrafts, costumes and local products, as well as a festival of local foods served by families and restaurants. It also includes a special children’s area, performances by heritage groups, and other artistic events and competitions with valuable prizes.
Saud Al Jasmi, Head of Events at ATDD, said, “We are pleased to celebrate 46th National Day of our beloved UAE through the organization of this Heritage Village, which will revive the past for visitors, connect them to the present and the future that will be bright thanks to the vision of our wise leadership and its care for all residents.” Al-Jasmi added that through organizing these events, Ajman Tourism Development Department looks forward to delighting residents and introducing them to different aspects of the UAE’s heritage, as well as attracting tourists and visitors who want to discover the older way of life, while highlighting the sacrifices of UAE martyrs and their defense of their homeland.
Ajman Tourism Development Department is working to improve the tourism sector in Ajman, strengthening its leading position on the global tourism map, and improving the level of hospitality services provided in accordance with the highest specifications and standards. It also seeks to highlight the most important archaeological landmarks, introduce tourist attractions and market its most important tourist products locally, regionally and globally.
